The Mauricie Weather

Summer
Fall
Winter
Spring

The Mauricie region lies in a "humid continental" climate zone. This gives us the chance to experience four seasons: a mild spring, a hot and humid summer, a colorful fall with sometimes cool temperatures, and a cold and white winter.

The turning of the seasons makes us aware of the wonders of nature, which reveals itself in a new light each season! This cycle gives us the opportunity to experience four different ways of life in a single year, with a diversity of activities to enjoy during each of the four seasons. Whatever the season, boredom has no place in the Mauricie!

Summer (Top)

In the summer, outdoor activities abound. The region's plentiful water resources (rivers, lakes and public pools) are there for everyone to relax, cool down and enjoy. Every opportunity is used to take advantage of the warmth and sunlight of those long summer days (about 15  hours). Plenty of summer activities are available: festivals, summertime theatre, cruises, excursions, camping, exhibitions, circuit among the trees, water sports (kayaking, canoeing.), biking trails, etc. There's something for everyone!

Fall (Top)

In the fall, people never get tired of admiring the beautifully colored panoramas offered by nature. Bright red foliage provides breathtaking views. This is also harvest time, when delicious apples are available for self-picking. The fall is hunting season, and the region offers great opportunities to hunters, with plenty of wild game and hunting sites.

Winter (Top)

In the winter, despite the cold, the people of the Mauricie have learned long ago to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the season. The region's often heavy snowfalls are appreciated by winter sports enthusiasts, whether it be snowmobiling, skiing, ice skating, dog sledding, snowshoeing, ice fishing, etc. Dressing warmly with boots, a tuque and a coat is all you need to enjoy the outdoors in cold weather. Nothing beats having a hot chocolate in front of the fire place after playing out in the cold!

Spring (Top)

Once the snow is gone, spring shows up, and there is a sense of renewal in the air. It gets warmer outside and nature's rebirth begins: buds start appearing on tree branches and they soon develop into bright green leaves. The people of the Mauricie take advantage of this invigorating time of year to indulge in some sweets: they go to the sugar bush to enjoy maple syrup and the traditional taffy on snow! Pancakes and pork and beans are also on the menu.
