Cégep de Trois-Rivières (Top)

The CEGEP of Trois-Rivières has been involved on the international scene since the early 1980’s. International cooperation and development projects conducted by the CEGEP of Trois-Rivières are mainly designed to reinforce educational and training institutions and enhance specific worker skills in foreign countries. By strengthening educational services in these countries, the college is contributing, among other things, to efforts aimed at reducing global poverty.

International cooperation and development projects advance the college’s efforts to add an international dimension to its action. These projects also foster sudent mobility by building strong international partnerships with new institutions, which is the basis of any mobility project. Finally, cooperation projects bring foreign partners to the CEGEP of Trois-Rivières and give students an opportunity to come in contact with other cultures through awareness activities.

 

Denis Moreau, Eng., Educational Consultant and Coordinator of Techni.ca (Top)

Job Description
Mr. Moreau is responsible for the development of skills-based advanced technical training programs.

What goal is being pursued internationally?
The mandate of the International Cooperation and Development Department is to help developing and emerging countries implement college-level technical or general training programs. In addition, the mandate of Techni.ca is to develop the international corporate training market through networking between private sector companies and Techni.ca.

For whom is the program intended?
Advanced technical training institutions and corporations offering technical services in their respective countries.

 

Philippe Mpeck, Eng., International Cooperation and Development Department Coordinator (Top)

Job Description
Mr. Mpeck assumes several responsibilities.

His mandate includes:

  • Fostering student mobility activities and international cooperation and development projects at the CEGEP of Trois-Rivières.
  • Organizing meetings and exchanges between foreign visitors and students.
  • Supporting initiatives aimed at integrating an international dimension into the curricula.
  • Supporting new student mobility initiatives and existing projects.
  • Making sure foreign students are warmly received.
  • Creating and maintaining strategic associations and partnerships.
  • Coordinating all international cooperation and development projects.
  • Taking an active part in recruiting foreign students.
  • International territories covered: Europe (France), Africa (Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Mali), Latin America (Chile, Dominican Republic).

 

Description of the work performed in the territories

  • Organizing meetings with managers of training and health institutions, and NGO’s.
  • Training trainers in learning institutions (high schools, universities).
  • Developing skills-based curricula.
  • Supervising student foreign internships.

General objective
The CEGEP of Trois-Rivières is committed to supporting internationalization initiatives and making its know-how accessible, thus confirming its intention to reach out to the world and help produce citizens capable of acting responsibly in a globalized world and labor market.

Michel G. Bérard, Eng., Manager Techni.ca/Industrial Group (Top)

Job Description
Mr. Bérard is responsible for corporate training in the industrial sector.

  • Developing technical and vocational training (TVT) programs.
  • Offshoring TVT programs, and dual diplomas.
  • Developing the Techni.ca network.
  • Supporting prior learning and skills recognition.
  • Supporting learning management of skills-based programs.

What goal is being pursued internationally?
Developing business networks for corporate training.

For whom is the program intended?
Technical universities, vocational training centers, manufacturing businesses.

 

René Tousignant, Educational Consultant (Top)

Job Description
Mr. Tousignant is responsible for developing and monitoring curricula.

International territories covered
Africa

Description of the work performed in the territories

  • Creating teams of teachers on the skills-based approach;
  • Implementing skills-based curricula;
  • Industrial Maintenance Program, in Fès, Morocco;
  • Electronics Program, in Mauritius;
  • Social Work Program, in Dakar, Senegal;
  • Food Hygiene and Safety Program, in Douala, Cameroon;
  • Meetings and animation of the socioeconomic community to prepare curricula determinants;
  • Developing courses with teacher teams.

What goal is being pursued internationally?
Sharing our institution’s know-how with developing countries to contribute to efforts aimed at reducing global poverty. This sharing is done by strengthening educational institutions to allow them to improve the quality of the technical training they offer.

For whom is the program intended?
High school to college level institutions.

 

Collège Laflèche (Top)

Thanks to the CIDA-funded CCPP program, Collège Laflèche has been involved in Chile since 2003, through a five-year project, where it supports the Lota-Arauco Technical Training Center to create and implement a tourism development technical training program. This project, which has a major regional impact, will involve matching Chilean and Canadian tourism businesses and also student exchanges. Collège Laflèche introduces 4 ambassadors who have been involved in the project.

 

Hubert Fortin, consultant (Top)

International territories covered
Chile

Description of the work performed in the territories
Mr. Fortin worked on the development, implementation and evaluation of a tourism technical program (2 years) using a skills-based approach. He worked on the whole pedagogical aspect of the project in cooperation with the Lota Arauco Technical Training Center.

The goal is to support the Lota-Arauco Technical Training Center to create and implement a tourism development technical training program.

Lise Bergeron, Contributor (Top)

Job Description
Ms. Bergeron was responsible for setting up a photo exhibition of Lota-Arauco where photos were matched with writings by two Chilean writers (Pablo Neruda and Baldomero Lillo). This exhibition was shown at Collège Laflèche as part of the Chile project.
