You have the entrepreneurial spirit? You're business-minded? If so, you should know our region is in great need of people like you. Bring your ideas and skills to the Mauricie, it could be highly profitable. If you're interested in investing or starting a business, you'll find a highly attractive investment climate in our region.

Caution (Top)

You have to complete the immigration process under the businesspeople category, which has different selection criteria than the permanent worker category.

Procedure (Top)

The businesspeople section in the Immigration-Québec website provides a typical procedure, in several steps, based on the actual experience of numerous immigrants who came to Québec to do business.

Favorable Environment in the Mauricie Region (Top)

A demographic decline due mainly to a rapidly aging population and youth migration to large urban centres has created a high demand for labour and business succession in our region. In fact, several family businesses (administered within a family for more than one generation) are facing succession problems.

An aging population means that several business owners in the region are nearing retirement and are currently, or will soon be, looking for business people to take over their companies. Furthermore, with an industrial diversification process underway, the region badly needs new businesses to strengthen its economic development and create new jobs. Numerous business opportunities are therefore expected to emerge in the coming years.

Organizations (Top)

In the Mauricie region, you'll have access to several organizations to help you bring your ideas or projects to life. We urge you to contact them on your arrival, before you sign any acquisition agreement, to get a reliable assessment of the growth potential and market share of the targeted company. Contact the Centre local de développement (CLD) or the Société d'aide au développement des collectivités (SADC) in your regional county municipality (RCM) or host city in the Mauricie region.

These organizations will inform you about Québec's business and entrepreneurial community and support you in completing your process. They will give you useful tools, inform you on the feasibility and viability of your project in our region and, if required, provide some financing to help bring your business dream to fruition. Refer to our Services section to get contact information.
