Introducing the SANA

In the Mauricie region, various resources are available to help and support you in successfully completing each step in the procedure. A network of aid services is currently being consolidated across the region, thanks to the community's commitment to welcoming and integrating newcomers.

Three «Services d'accueil des nouveaux arrivants» (SANA) are operational: SANA Haut St-Maurice, SANA MRC Maskinongé, SANA Shawinigan, and SANA Trois-Rivières. It should be noted that other SANA are being developed and will be launched over the next few years in other communities.

What is a «Service d'Accueil des nouveaux arrivants(SANA)?

It's a community-based organization whose mission is to help settle and integrate newcomers from all over the world.

SANA provides assistance and support in a personalized way and free:

  • for your administrative process (native language interpreter services, explanation and assistance to fill out the different forms, etc.);

  • for your job search (identification of job openings in the region and referral to available resources and services (Stratégie Carrière, employment centre, etc.));

  • for your housing search (temporary lodging availability, assistance for searches and visits, etc.);

  • for getting to know your environment: systems explained (health, education, etc.), list of available services provided (emergency services: police, etc.; health: hospitals, local community service centres, etc.), education (schools, etc.);

  • and for your social integration (meetings organized to get to know immigrants already settled and your host community).

In addition, SANA offers a personalized follow-up to ensure a successful completion of the process and provide motivation and support for reaching the integration goals of its immigrant population.

Learning French (Top)

For your linguistic integration, be aware that you'll have access to full-time and part-time French as a second language courses throughout the region. Most of these courses are offered mainly by the Department of Cultural Communities and Immigration, in cooperation with the region's school boards (Chemin du Roy, de l'Énergie), under adult general education programs.

French as a second language courses are also provided at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières through the École internationale de français and at the Cégep de Trois-Rivières. For more details on local resources and opportunities for learning French, visit directly the different SANA websites.
